Illness Prevention
The number one cause of illness travelers experience is through food
and waterborne diseases. Always make sure that your food and drinking water
are safe. Otherwise, you may experience diarrhea and vomiting as a result of
contamination by viruses, bacteria or parasites. Other diseases from food or
water contamination may be cholera, typhoid fever or hepatitis.
Since there is a limited risk of malaria in some parts of Algeria, Egypt
and Morocco (as well as other diseases such as dengue, falariasis which are transmitted
by mosquitos), it's recommended to wear long sleeved shirts, pants and a hat while outside
whenever possible. Try to be diligent about mosquito protection particularly
between dusk and dawn, when mosquitos are most active.
